With new rules, restrictions and safety measures to adhere to, travel looks a lot different at the moment. Here are a few things to know before you hop on that plane to North River:

• Before committing to anything, see if any travel restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get the latest updates by checking government travel advisories.
• Requirements state you must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at security checkpoints. You should be prepared to adjust your mask for ID purposes when asked by a TSA officer.
• Instead of handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, place it straight on the reader yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. This will need to be removed for screening.
• Remove personal items from your pocket, like your small change and phone, and put them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will minimize handling during screening.
• If you're bringing food through the screening checkpoint, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your food container or carry-on bag for closer inspection.
